Tesco Wine by the Case to close
5 Sep 2018
Tesco has taken the decision to close its Wine by the Case service following a detailed review which found there was no route to profitability for this standalone online offering.
This service will close on 8 October however customers will still be able to purchase a wide range of wines from Tesco in store and online with its grocery home shopping service at Tesco.com.
This decision is part of Tesco’s work to move towards a simpler online experience for customers, allowing them to purchase groceries, clothing and general merchandise through one single service.
The changes will affect a very small number of colleagues who will be supported to find alternative roles within the business wherever possible.
Adrian Letts, Managing Director of Tesco Online, said:
"Going forward we are focusing our wine offer to customers in stores and online through our grocery home shopping service rather than a standalone wine by the case website.
“Customers will still be able to purchase a wide range of wines for delivery or collection, including our award winning Tesco finest wine, through our main website Tesco.com.”
