Simon Gillespie joined the British Heart Foundation in 2013, following seven years as Chief Executive of the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society. He previously worked as Head of Operations at the Healthcare Commission, where he was responsible for the inspection of NHS and independent healthcare facilities in England. From 2000 to 2004, he was Director of Operations at the Charity Commission.
Chris Askew was appointed Chief Executive of Diabetes UK in September 2015, joining from Breakthrough Breast Cancer where he led the charity into a merger to form Breast Cancer Now. Previously he held leadership roles in fundraising at Action for Children, Crisis and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
