I’m Bhupinder Sidhu, known more commonly as Sid to my friends and colleagues. I joined Tesco in 2013 when the West Brom store opened.

I’m 52, been married to Manjit for 30 years. We have two children, a daughter, 29, a son, 26, and a granddaughter who will be three this year! Family is very important to me. My interests include spending as much time as possible with them, especially my granddaughter! Watching movies and documentaries, I follow football, snooker and darts (I used to play for two different pub teams).

I’m passionate about helping people whenever I can; I’ve done a few voluntary positions over the years and this really opened my eyes to things around me.

To cut a very long story very short, I was taken seriously ill in 2004. I was diagnosed with Devics Disease. It’s a very rare neurological condition where my immune system attacked my central nervous system. I learnt to walk, write and drive again, all at the age of 40! My cousin and I organised a charity football match, played at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff and we raised around £18,000! This undoubtedly helped land me the Community Champion role at Tesco and I love and enjoy every minute of my job.
